Connect your WooCommerce store to Kognit AI to enable 24/7 autonomous customer support, instant order status tracking (WISMO), live cart recommendations, and seamless human agent handoff.

You can connect your store using either the Official WordPress Plugin (recommended, 1-click handshake) or Manual REST API Keys (for headless or custom setups).

The official Kognit for WooCommerce plugin is approved on WordPress.org and provides automatic 1-click handshake, storefront widget injection, and real-time cart intelligence without touching a single line of theme code.

Step 1: Install the Plugin

  1. In your WordPress Admin dashboard, navigate to Plugins → Add New.
  2. In the search bar, type Kognit for WooCommerce.
  3. Click Install Now, then click Activate. (Alternatively, download the .zip from kognithq.com/downloads/kognit-for-woocommerce.zip or WordPress.org and upload it via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin).

Step 2: 1-Click Handshake

  1. In your WordPress sidebar, open WooCommerce → Kognit AI Helpdesk.
  2. Click the purple button: Connect with Kognit HQ (1-Click).
  3. Kognit authorizes your store and automatically exchanges your workspace's public key.
  4. You are redirected back to WordPress with a green "Connected & Active" status badge.

Step 3: Instant Live Storefront

Your 24/7 AI chat widget is now live on your WordPress store. It automatically inherits your store's branding and begins answering buyer questions immediately.

Method 2: Connect Manually with REST API Keys (Alternative)

If your WordPress admin is restricted or you are using headless WooCommerce, you can connect via standard WooCommerce REST API credentials:

  1. In WordPress, go to WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API.
  2. Click Add key.
  3. Set Description to Kognit Helpdesk and choose an administrator account.
  4. Set Permissions to Read/Write (or Read if only querying orders).
  5. Click Generate API key.
  6. Copy the Consumer Key (ck_...) and Consumer Secret (cs_...).
  7. In Kognit, go to Connections → WooCommerce → Connect Manually, enter your store URL and keys, and click Validate & Connect.

Customer Identity & Session Recognition

Kognit automatically handles both logged-in WordPress users and anonymous guest shoppers:

Customer TypeHow Identification WorksCapabilities
Logged-in CustomersThe plugin securely passes current_user->user_email and display_name to the widget bridge.AI greets them by name, instantly locates their past orders, and pulls their active cart items without asking for an email.
Guest ShoppersShoppers can browse and chat anonymously. When asking "Where is my order?", the AI prompts for their Order # and Billing Email to look up status securely.

What Data Synchronizes
