Usage and quotas
Read your usage meters, understand how quota is reserved, and avoid running out mid-month.

Where to look
Billing shows each meter with usage against its limit for the current period, and the date the period resets.
Check it weekly rather than when something fails. A meter at 80% on the tenth of the month is a decision; the same meter at 100% on the twentieth is an incident.
How quota is reserved
For a single reply, quota is consumed as it is used.
For a broadcast, the entire batch is reserved before the first message sends. If your remaining allowance cannot cover every recipient, the send is refused outright.
This is deliberate. Sending to 4,000 people out of 10,000 and stopping produces a worse outcome than sending to nobody: you cannot easily tell who received it, and re-sending risks duplicates.
Running out mid-month
| Meter | What happens |
|---|---|
| AI Resolutions | Conversations escalate to humans; nothing is dropped |
| Emails | Sends refused with a clear error |
| Contacts | New contacts not created; tickets still arrive |
The AI behaviour is worth understanding: exhausting AI quota does not disable support, it removes automation. Your team absorbs the work.
Reducing usage without upgrading
- Tighten campaign segments. Sending to everyone every time is the fastest way to burn an email allowance and a sending reputation at once.
- Prune inactive contacts. Contacts who have never engaged consume contact quota and drag deliverability.
- Set low-value intents to Escalate. Stops the AI spending replies on conversations it was never going to resolve.
- Fix repetitive questions at the source. A question asked 500 times a month costs 500 AI Resolutions to handle; a clearer product page costs nothing.
Period resets
Meters reset at the start of your billing period, not the calendar month. If you subscribed on the 12th, your period runs 12th to 12th. Billing shows the exact reset date.
Unused allowance does not roll over.
Buying headroom
If you need more of one meter but not a full plan upgrade, credits cover overage on a prepaid basis. See Credits.
