Learn from your website
The AI reads your website's pages and answers visitors from them, on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow or any other site.
On this page
Your website already answers most questions: opening hours, services, shipping, returns, prices. Kognit reads it so the AI can answer from it, and re-reads it so the answers stay current.
How your site gets learned
| Your site | How |
|---|---|
| WordPress (with or without WooCommerce) | The Kognit plugin. Kognit reads your published pages through WordPress, and re-reads a page a minute after you edit it. See Connect WordPress & WooCommerce |
| Wix | Automatic when you connect your Wix site. See Connect Wix |
| Shopify | Your store policies are imported. See Shopify policies |
| Any other site (Squarespace, Webflow, hand-built…) | Learn from your website, below |
Learn from your website
- Open Website chat (Settings → Channels → Website chat) and go to the Knowledge base step.
- Under Learn from your website, enter your address, like
https://yourbusiness.com, and click Learn my website. - Kognit reads up to 25 pages from your site's sitemap, home page and top-level pages first, and shows how many pages it read and how many answers it added.
It re-reads your site every day. Click Read again now after a big change, or Stop learning from this site to remove those answers.
What's read and what's skipped
- Read: public pages listed in your sitemap (
yourbusiness.com/sitemap.xml). Without a sitemap, just your home page. - Skipped: cart, checkout, account, login and search pages; individual products (your catalog syncs separately on stores); and blog posts.
- Text that repeats on every page, like menus and footers, is kept once.
Each section of a page (under its own heading) becomes a separate answer, so the AI picks the part that fits the question.
If it can't read your site
The page says why. The usual reasons: the site isn't published yet, it's behind a password, or a security plugin blocks it. Kognit only reads public pages over https.
Your own answers come first
Answers you write yourself are never changed by website learning. Add anything your site doesn't say, or says differently, under AI Autopilot → Knowledge base.
